			About Cologne, Germany

The Gothic Dom Cathedral towers over Cologne, a city found in the west of Germany along the banks of the River Rhine. Home to around a million people, Cologne boasts a large number of top attractions, from modern art galleries to a chocolate museum. Here youll also come across innumerable bars and restaurants, perfect to revive yourself after a day of sightseeing.

Cologne is Germanys fourth largest city. It is also one of the oldest cities in the country, having been originally settled by Romans in around 38 BC. Since then it has spread out to cover its present area of around 405 square kilometres.

The city can be divided into 9 different boroughs, with this further split up into 86 distinct quarters. These city quarters are known as Veedel, Colognes traditional neighbourhoods, and they each hold something different to delight the large number of visitors who descend on the city each and every year.
